Job summary

Middlebury College is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible lacrosse coach to support the head coach and guide student-athletes in their growth as players and community members.

The role involves practicing and competing coaching, recruiting within NCAA rules, and assisting with daily practice plans, scouting, travel, equipment, budgeting, and program development on topics like mental health, DEI, leadership, and hazing prevention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience playing and coaching at the collegiate level preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituents through strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Excellent organizational, computer, and multitasking skills.
• Must maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and annual NCAA Division III Rules Test.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and, if requested, a college vehicle license.

Responsibilities

• Coach the technical and tactical aspects of women’s lacrosse in practices and competitions.
• Recruit prospective student-athletes within Middlebury, NESCAC and NCAA rules.
• Assist the head coach in preparing for daily practice, including planning.
• Assist the head coach in preparing for competition, including scouting and reports.
• Assist with program administration: travel, equipment purchasing, budgeting.
• Mentor student-athletes in athletics, academics, and personal development.
• Develop and deliver programming on student-athlete development topics (mental health, DEI, leadership, hazing prevention).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics, including event management and teaching classes.
