Job summary

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office (CA) seeks a Witness Service Coordinator for the Victim Assistance Program in the Criminal Branch. This role processes and verifies Victim of Crime Compensation claims and coordinates with law enforcement, attorneys, courts, and probation officers.

Responsibilities include reviewing eligibility, tracking claims, preparing verification reports, and calculating losses. Applicants need at least two years of related education or experience and must obtain

Qualifications

• Two years of education in behavior science, criminal justice or related curricula and/or experience in victim services or equivalent social service skills.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and handle high-stress situations.
• Must demonstrate effective written and oral communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Must have a valid California Driver License.
• Ability to meet grant reporting requirements and complete virtual training/certification with CalVCB.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate crime victim reimbursement applications for eligibility.
• Maintain a system to track and control the claims process.
• Prepare verification reports detailing crime and injuries.
• Obtain case status from law enforcement, attorneys, courts, and probation officers.
• Assist in processing and verifying claims under relevant Government Code provisions.
• Calculate total and net losses for victims and record on forms.
• Identify sources of reimbursement (insurance, restitution, public assistance).
• Update case files for full reimbursement and close completed files.
• Submit monthly statistics on completed cases.
