Job summary

The District Attorney's Office seeks a Victim/Witness Coordinator to assist crime victims by explaining rights, guiding through proceedings, and coordinating services with law enforcement and victim compensation agencies.

Responsibilities include notifying victims of rights, helping with travel, providing court setting information, operating the VINE system, and assisting with compensation claims. Works with multiple agencies; standard office environment.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; 1 year experience.
• This is an at-will position with no civil service rights; management can alter duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist victims by providing information on available services and notifying rights.
• Assist victims and witnesses with travel arrangements, filings with State agencies and referrals to victim service agencies.
• Provide victims and/or witnesses with court setting information and notify when cases are appealed.
• Interact with law enforcement, the Texas Prison Board of Pardons and Paroles, the Judiciary and state agencies.
• Operate the VINE system to receive notices and forward notifications to appropriate agencies.
• Assist victims in filing victim compensation claims and statements; report ineligible claims.
• Provide judges with copies of victim impact statements and ensure they are forwarded.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
