Job summary

State of Michigan is filling several limited-term winter maintenance positions in the Superior Region. The roles require full-time hours Oct–Apr with possible overtime and overnight travel to various sites.

Duties include maintenance of state trunk lines and right-of-ways, winter service, and operation of heavy equipment in support of the Transportation Maintenance Worker program. Education typically is a high school diploma; a CDL is required at hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required at time of hire.
• No specific amount of experience required for entry level; progression to higher levels based on qualifications.
• Willingness to travel overnight and work varying shifts including afternoons, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunk lines, structures, and right-of-ways in the Superior Region.
• Perform surface, roadside general maintenance, and winter maintenance activities.
• Operate various equipment and participate in the TMW work element program.
• Travel to work sites throughout the Region with overnight travel; may require CDL during duties.
