Job summary

Vail Resorts in Crested Butte, CO is hiring a Culinary Assistant Manager for winter 2026/27 to lead the restaurant's back-of-house operations and partner with the GM to ensure high standards of food quality, safety, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of restaurant experience with at least 1 year in a managerial role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift 40+ lbs and compliance with safety standards.
• TIPS and ServSafe Food Protection Manager certifications required within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist GM in day-to-day operations of the restaurant, leading the culinary team including hiring, scheduling, training and performance management.
• Maintain standards for facility and food preparation, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation per laws and policies.
• Develop, produce and train menu items with playbooks and quality checks.
• Lead daily staff briefings and weekly safety meetings.
• Oversee inventory, shipping, receiving, stock levels and waste reporting with proper documentation.
• Address guest issues to protect GX scores and guest experience.
• Partner with GM on budgets, labor, food costs, payroll, timekeeping and compliance logs.
