Transportation Generalist - Fairmont is a temporary, intermittent position with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The role requires a valid Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement and involves snow and ice control, equipment inspection, and winter operations at the Fairmont Truck Station.

The incumbent works day shifts Monday through Friday, supports districts in District 7, and must pass background checks. End date is April 2027.

Qualifications

• A Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction.
• 1 year of experience performing snow/ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and maintain logs.

Responsabilités

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control and perform night/dawn patrols.
• Inspect and maintain winter equipment like snowplows and sanders.
• Install, repair and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes as needed.
• Document snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
