Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Generalist at the Jackson Truck Station to perform winter maintenance, equipment prep, and post-storm cleanup. Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction.
• 1 year of snow/ice, road maintenance, or related work experience.
• Alternative: completion of Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance Program may substitute for 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control and perform night/dawn patrols.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment and clean post-storm.
• Conduct preseason snow route inspections and post-storm cleanup on bridges and roadways.
• Handle winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
• Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes.
• Maintain snow/ice data for inventory reporting.
• Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
