Job summary

The State of Nevada, Department of Transportation, is hiring a Highway Construction Aid in Ely, Nevada for winter employment. Incumbents perform unskilled tasks under supervision, assist in routine maintenance, and may work 8 or 10 hour shifts. This on-site position is not remote and is limited to six months.

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Perform moderate physical labor for extended periods of time.
Use common hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

Perform traffic control tasks and set up traffic control devices.
Assist maintenance crews with routine tasks such as fence, sign and guardrail repair.
Assist field testers and inspectors with survey stakes and simple tests.
Assist staff in testing materials to meet highway construction and maintenance specifications.
Clean shop areas and assist stockroom personnel and mechanics.
Perform related duties as assigned.
