Job summary

State of Nevada is hiring for Highway Construction Aid in Tonopah, NV to support winter road maintenance. The role involves traffic control, debris removal, vegetation management and helping with routine maintenance tasks under supervision.

Incumbents must be able to perform physical labor, follow instructions and operate common hand and power tools; on-site work is required with variable shifts and potential inclement weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform moderate physical labor for extended periods.
• Use common hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic control tasks during roadway maintenance and set up/remove traffic control devices.
• Act as flagger and operate a pilot vehicle.
• Pick up debris and empty litter barrels; control vegetation near highways, bridges, fences, signs and buildings.
• Remove weeds and mow turf; assist maintenance crews with fence, sign, guardrail repairs, and minor patching.
• Prepare and set survey stakes; assist inspectors with minor inspection duties on site.
• Assist field testers performing sieve analysis, compaction tests or other field lab tests.
• Assist office personnel with required documentation for construction projects.
