Job summary

NDOT in Ely, Nevada, is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker 4 to plan and schedule routine maintenance, lead crews, and assist the Highway Maintenance Supervisor I. The role requires being a certified equipment operator, training lower-level staff, and handling emergency incidents on state roadways.

The position is on-site with no remote work option, requires a valid CDL within 6 months, and includes benefits like health insurance, vacation, and retirement through PERS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service or equivalent experience/education.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a variety of highway maintenance and construction equipment.
• Act as designated certified equipment operator and provide training to staff.
• Establish traffic controls and respond to emergencies outside regular hours.
• Install/repair roadway signs and markings; monitor contract compliance and quality of work.
• Maintenance of right-of-way, landscaping, and debris removal.
