Job summary

State of Michigan is hiring Transportation Maintenance Workers for winter and general maintenance of state trunklines in the Grand Region. These are limited-term positions from October to April with no guarantee of extension.

You will operate heavy equipment, travel with a crew, and may be assigned region-wide winter duties. CDL Class A with N or X endorsement must be obtained within 12 months of hire. The role may involve testing and drug screening where required by policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
• CDL Class A with N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in roadway, roadside, bridge, or sign maintenance or Pavement marking is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunklines within the right-of-way and operate equipment for roadways, bridges, forestry, signs, and winter maintenance.
• Travel with a crew in the assigned geographic area and participate in MDOT TMW work element system.
• Perform winter maintenance duties region-wide and operate heavy vehicles with GVWR 26,001 lb or more.
