Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) invites applications for an Apprentice Line Intern – Winter 2027 at Scottsbluff Office, Chadron Office, Ogallala Operations Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. This internship runs roughly January 4, 2027 through May 17, 2027, with safety training, pole climbing, and fieldwork under a Distribution Supervisor.

Incumbents must complete the first semester in the Utility Line program and may be required to pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.

Qualifications

• Must have successfully completed first semester of college in the Utility Line program.
• Must be certified to climb through an accredited institution.
• Background check, physical, and drug screen required prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Ascend and descend wood poles to perform work safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and patrol distribution and subtransmission lines within the grid.
• Maintain positive relations with property owners, District personnel, and customers.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including aerial devices, per District policies.
