Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks multiple Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions for the winter season across North Central Region locations (Brewster, Coulee City, Electric City, Mansfield, Tonasket, Twisp).

The roles involve snow removal, road repair, catch basin maintenance, debris removal, and traffic control. Positions are non-permanent, 3–6 months, with 40 hours weekly and 10-hour shifts; nights, weekends, and emergencies may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience performing routine and emergency highway maintenance including pavement repair, drainage, erosion control, and debris removal.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, sweepers, and snowplows.
• Knowledge of safety policies including fall protection and hazard handling; ability to follow PASP procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways for safe travel by performing snow and ice control and debris removal.
• Perform routine highway maintenance: pavement, drainage, erosion, sign/guardrail repairs, vegetation management, roadside cleanup.
• Operate and maintain a wide range of highway maintenance equipment (snowplows, loaders, excavators, paving equipment, etc.).
• Install, repair, and maintain highway infrastructure and roadside features (catch basins, ditches, attenuators, landscaping).
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control, flagging, and coordinating with external agencies.
