Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking friendly, energetic Winter Event Servers to join our team and help create unforgettable experiences for our guests.

You’ll provide attentive service, assist with set-up and breakdown, and work across banquet and event settings while maintaining a polished service environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience as a server or bartender in a fast-paced environment.
  • California Food Handler certification.
  • RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) training.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operating systems.

  • Provide friendly, attentive service while serving food and beverages to guests.
  • Assist with banquet and event setup and breakdown, bringing each event to life.
  • Take food and beverage orders with accuracy and a welcoming attitude.
  • Support the team by expediting food and drinks to ensure smooth service.
  • Work across buffet, family-style, and plated meals.
  • Handle guest service situations with professionalism and care.

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking friendly, energetic Winter Event Servers to join our team and help create unforgettable experiences for our guests.

In this role, you’ll deliver exceptional service at a variety of events, both internal and external, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. You’ll bring our offerings to life by confidently sharing knowledge of our food and wine, always approaching requests with a “can-do” attitude. Collaboration is key, so being a supportive and reliable team player is essential.

You’ll also play an important part behind the scenes by assisting with event setup and breakdown, and helping maintain clean, organized, and polished event spaces and service ware. Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. Who You Are
  • 2+ years’ experience as a server or bartender in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess basic knowledge of computer operating systems, including POS systems
  • Hold current RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) training
  • Have and maintain a valid California Food Handler certification
  • Maintains a professional appearance, including dress code compliance: black slacks with no holes that fit properly, worn with a black leather belt and black dress shoes
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English
  • At least six months of experience working in a guest service environment
  • Available for a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
What You’ll do
  • Provide friendly, attentive service while serving food and beverages to guests
  • Assist with banquet and event setup and breakdown, helping bring each event to life
  • Take food and beverage orders with accuracy and a welcoming attitude
  • Support your team by helping expedite food and drinks to ensure smooth service
  • Work across a variety of service styles including buffets, family-style, and plated meals
  • Jump into cocktail service, including unique opportunities like events at the top of Mt. Disney
  • Handle guest service situations with professionalism and care
  • Contribute to all types of catered events, adapting to different settings and needs
  • Ensure all opening and closing checklists are completed to keep operations running smoothly
  • Verify guest identification to ensure responsible alcohol service
  • Help maintain a polished environment through cleaning, polishing, and upkeep of service areas
  • Process credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Safely handle and serve hot food items
  • May be assigned duties outside the primary server role as business needs require, including but not limited to bartending, bussing, hosting, food preparation support, and other related responsibilities.
  • Show up as a reliable, supportive, and positive team player
  • Be punctual and ready to go in your designated uniform
  • And most importantly… have fun while creating memorable guest experiences!
  • Provide food and beverage service to large banquet groups in a friendly and timely manner
  • Provide general assistance to the Banquet Department, including cleanup and stocking
Physical Requirements
  • Stand continuously for extended periods (6–8+ hours per shift)
  • Walk and move frequently throughout the workday
  • Sit occasionally as needed during shifts
  • Perform frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and crawling
  • Engage in repetitive hand and arm motions for service tasks
  • Use hands for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Reach regularly, including above shoulder level
  • Perform twisting and bending movements of the neck and waist as part of daily tasks
  • Maintain constant awareness using sight, hearing, and smell in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize sense of taste occasionally as part of food and beverage service support
  • Carry large trays weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Move banquet equipment such as tables, chairs, umbrellas and umbrella bases (up to 60 pounds), heat lamps and linens
  • Perform heavy lifting and constant movement throughout shifts
