Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Wine Storage Manager to oversee the daily operations, climate controls, and logistics of our premier wine storage facility. In this role, you will be the primary custodian of an extensive collection, ensuring that all inventory is systematically tracked, safely handled, and preserved under flawless storage conditions. The ideal candidate possesses deep foundational knowledge of wine varietals, hands-on experience with inventory software, and a technical understanding of environmental monitoring systems.

Environmental Management & Quality Control

Monitor and maintain climate control systems to guarantee optimal, constant temperature and humidity levels inside the storage areas. Conduct routine inspections of physical infrastructure, lighting, and vibration levels to prevent wine spoilage. Troubleshoot system alerts or environmental variances immediately to protect high-value inventory.

Inventory Tracking & Organization

Log and tag incoming and outgoing cases or bottles using specialized inventory tracking software or a Warehouse Management System (WMS). Organize and optimize cellar layout layouts (by region, producer, vintage, or bin number) for quick retrieval and space efficiency. Perform routine physical inventory audits, reconcile data discrepancies, and generate stock reports for ownership or management.

Logistics & Handling

Oversee the safe loading, unloading, unpacking, and shelf-placement of delicate, high-value wine shipments. Inspect arriving shipments for damage, leakage, or incorrect labeling, and document discrepancies immediately. Coordinate local or international transport logistics, ensuring proper protective packaging and climate-controlled courier services.

Client & Vendor Relations

Serve as the point of contact for private collectors, distributors, and suppliers. Assist clients with account updates, pulling specific bottles upon request, and organizing inbound personal shipments. Maintain relationships with HVAC technicians, security personnel, and cellar software providers.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience : 2-4 years of experience in wine warehousing, cellar management, fine wine retail, or upscale hospitality logistics.
  • Wine Knowledge : Solid foundational understanding of global wine regions, vintages, proper aging windows, and bottle formats.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., WSET Level 2/3, Certified Sommelier) are a major plus.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency with inventory management software, Excel, barcode scanners, and smart environmental-monitoring apps.
  • Attention to Detail : Absolute precision in documentation, tracking serial/bin numbers, and catching subtle discrepancies on labels.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and navigate tight cellar spaces for long periods. Ability to comfortably and safely lift and move heavy boxes and wine cases weighing up to 50 pounds on a daily basis. Comfort working routinely in cooler, dimly lit ambient environments (typically 55°F / 13°C) designed for wine preservation.

Benefits

include a choice of plans providing comprehensive coverage for medical, dental, and vision care for employee & dependents, as well as employee life, matching 401(k), paid vacation and holidays.
