Job summary

Union Square Cafe in New York City is seeking a Wine and Beverage Director to lead the bar and beverage programs with excellence, brand promise, and profitability. You will mentor the Bar and Service Teams, align with senior leadership, and elevate hospitality across the restaurant.

You’ll manage inventory, educate the team on beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic offerings, optimize costs, and foster a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant beverage management experience.
• Excellent Beverage knowledge including beer, wine and spirits.
• Excellent understanding of beverage inventory and cost management.
• Excellent knowledge of restaurant service team roles.
• Strong communication and people management skills.
• Fluency in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a culture of Enlightened Hospitality for all stakeholders.
• Partner with the management team to lead the service staff.
• Endlessly look for opportunities for Beverage to open doors to Hospitality.
• Guide teams in finding the yes for guests while upholding USHG standards.
• Use Beverage to drive cover counts and introduce new guests.
• Continuously look for opportunities to grow the team.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment for service and kitchen teams.
• Educate the Service Team on beer, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic offerings.
• Ensure end-of-period reports, inventories, and forecasts are accurate and timely.
• Ensure beverage changes are communicated and understood by the team.
