Job summary

Tailscale is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing team and help build the next generation of our Windows desktop client. You will collaborate with the engineering team on client code and backend services, with a focus on Windows platform integration.

Because we are a fully remote company, you will join a distributed, highly technical team, contributing to cross‑platform code while growing your skills in WinUI, Go, and modern UI development.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of software development experience.
• Strong understanding of Windows platform capabilities and limitations.
• Proficiency in C# and modern native UI frameworks (WinUI/UWP/WPF).
• Experience with general networking concepts (DNS, VPNs, IP networking).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and give/receive constructive feedback.
• Flexibility to adapt to a startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers on a native Windows desktop client using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML and Go.
• Implement support for the latest Windows platform features while maintaining compatibility with older versions.
• Develop and optimize product features on Windows, focusing on UI components and platform integration.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using Microsoft Testing Platform v2 and xUnit.
• Contribute to cross-platform Tailscale code.
