Job summary

Tailscale is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our fully remote team. You will contribute to both the Windows desktop client and cross‑platform components, with a focus on WinUI, Windows App SDK, and Go-based services.

You should have four or more years of software development experience, strong Windows platform knowledge, and expertise in C# and modern UI frameworks. Collaboration with highly technical teams and asynchronous work will be essential in this startup environment.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of software development experience.
• Strong understanding of Windows platform capabilities and limitations.
• Proficiency in C# and modern native UI frameworks (WinUI/UWP/WPF).
• Experience with general networking concepts (DNS, VPNs, IP networking).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop the Tailscale Windows client in C#, XAML, and Go.
• Focus on Windows platform features and WinUI/Windows App SDK integration.
• Build and optimize features with UI components and cross‑platform code.
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests using Microsoft Testing Platform v2 and xUnit.
• Contribute to shared, cross‑platform Tailscale codebase.
