Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Cheswick, PA is seeking a Winder to join our Pittsburgh area facility. You will wind, assemble, and insulate stators and rotors, coordinate tooling, perform potting, and ensure precise measurements while meeting safety and quality standards.

The role requires US citizenship, ability to obtain DoD security clearance, and a strong background in electrical engineering or manufacturing with 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and learning agility.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Coursework in Electrical Power Engineering, Power Electronics, or Electrical Machines preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in design or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform winding layout for stators and rotors and connect as required.
  • Build up, fit and assemble stator coils and rotors; apply potting and insulation compounds.
  • Wind and connect complex stators and rotors, including tight space conditions.
  • Perform braze and final connections on terminals, bus bars, and related components.
  • Inspect work with measuring and gauging devices and record data in QA forms.
  • Follow safety, hygiene, and FOD procedures and maintain clean work area.

Job description

We are looking for a Winder to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location. $2500 Sign-on Bonus!

Your Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of layout for winding and connecting complex stators and rotors, wind stators complete and connect as required. They will perform experimental, prototype and repair winding as assigned. In addition, coordinate and perform any winding operations and perform potter-insulation function as assigned.

Your Challenge
  • Coordinate winding and associated operations as assigned. This includes the study and understanding of job specifications, procedures, manufacturing information and equipment availability.
  • Review job assignment at work station with order card and drawing and other necessary information, including oral or written instructions from appropriate supervision when required.
  • Examine the above, noting dimensions, tolerances, required tools and operations. Obtain all necessary tool fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Performs layout for winding complex stators and rotors
  • Build up, fit and assemble complete stator coils and rotors and similar apparatus. Prepare and apply potting and insulation compounds, including baking and surface preparation.
  • Wind and connect complex stators and rotors where severe space limitations exist.
  • Perform all final connecting after treating, space wedges for final shrinking into shall and braze terminal gland studs and bus bars.
  • Construct and assemble special components, such as shunts, copper fins, thermocouple boards, thermocouples, fins and fin forming blocks, and specialized production wiring (such as RTD's).
  • Insulate, fit cut RTR coils, blocks, baffles and braze connections, following drawings and procedures.
  • Perform all operations of RCP, CVN, and Trident type windings as required.
  • Must be qualified for brazing, but not limited to brazing qualifications summary sheet.
  • Perform all potting and insulation functions.
  • Hand lift lights parts, crane available for heavier work.
  • Check own work using proper measuring and gauging devices; record appropriate data on QA forms as required.
  • Observe all safety and hygiene requirements as specified and direct.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
  • Machine operations include editing programs, proving out programs and utilizing conversational and/or teach modes.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, lubrication and fluid levels, and perform simple machine error recovery.
  • Adhere and maintain to FOD procedures and requirements within designated areas.
  • Code reductions and disqualifications will follow the Winding Progression guidelines and IBEW contractual language.
