Job summary

DTE Energy is seeking a Maintenance Planner in Detroit to plan and schedule multi-week outages and maintenance for electric and gas operations. You will work with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to optimize work packages using systems like Maximo, SAP, Documentum, and Office 365, ensuring safe, cost-efficient execution.

The role requires strong planning, estimating, and communication skills, and offers hybrid in-person work with possible downtown Detroit positioning.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering with 2 years of related work in utilities is preferred.
• High school diploma plus experience in scheduling/estimating for power plants or heavy industry.
• Seven years’ experience in similar equipment work at a power generating facility or heavy construction is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Identify root causes and define work scope for daily and project tasks.
• Develop accurate time and resource estimates and ensure productivity.
• Create or update detailed job plans with step-by-step execution.
• Validate estimates against actuals to improve data quality in systems.
• Prepare multi-week schedules with milestones for major projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and vendors to execute work packages.
• Provide oversight of contractors and ensure safety and compliance.
