Job summary

Clearway Energy Group is seeking a Lead Technician to support the Ocotillo wind site, contributing to day‑to‑day operations by maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and monitoring substation work.

The role includes leading crews, training staff, ensuring safe practices, documenting all work, and coordinating with site management to maximize uptime and reliability of wind turbines; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree (electrical or technical) and 2+ years of turbine experience, or 5+ years of wind turbine experience required.
• 1+ years of independent turbine troubleshooting experience and the ability to troubleshoot turbines without assistance are required.
• Able to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Able to travel as required.
• Proficiency in MS Office and fluent in creating, editing, and modifying Word and Excel documents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, abide by, and enforce safe work practices at wind plants and related activities.
• Inspect completed repairs and scheduled maintenance for quality assurance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on equipment.
• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of components with proper procedures.
• Lead crews and support site operations with minimal supervision.
• Assist in training and development of lower-level personnel.
• Ensure all work, parts used, and time are documented using service reporting procedures.
• Update manuals, work instructions, and wind turbine data.
• Read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and mentor others as needed.
• Monitor site conditions and personnel to maximize revenue and minimize downtime.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and organized.
• Safely perform LOTO and mentor others in LOTO.
• Perform balance of plant, O&M facility, and switchyard maintenance.
• Work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment.
