Job summary

EDP Renewables North America is seeking an entry-level Wind Technician I for our Dwight, IL wind farm. The role covers on-site operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment, ensuring safety through LOTO and proper documentation.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical background, 1–2 years wind industry experience (preferred), and familiarity with wind turbine components, tools and safety standards. This position requires physical fitness and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background with gear-related experience preferred.
• 1–2 years relevant experience in wind energy or related industry preferred.
• Understanding of Microsoft products and related software.
• Experience with power plant operations, wind plant operations and turbines including turbine power converters.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and electronic testing equipment; crane and rigging knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wind turbines and related equipment including substation and tower switchgear.
• Identify process improvements and communicate or implement improvements using proper control protocols.
• Identify safety gaps and mitigate risks; advise technical staff and management.
• Demonstrate integrity, initiative, and teamwork in the field.
• Follow EDPR safety programs and act as a safety role model.
• Coordinate with EDPR Remote Operations Control Center for remote operations as needed.
• Complete required training in a timely manner and participate in on-the-job training.
• Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures.
• Adhere to internal controls and perform other duties as required.
