Job summary

Southern Power seeks a Wind Deputy Site Manager to help run Bethel Wind Facility in Castro County, TX. You will lead a small team of technicians and contractors, establish new operating procedures, and coordinate with Southern Power to manage site operations.

The role requires 5–7 years in wind energy, strong safety leadership, and the ability to climb towers up to 110 meters. Expect duties across operations, contracts, reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in wind energy
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applications
• Success in instilling a culture of Safety Excellence and foundations of Human Performance
• Ability to climb turbine towers up to 110 meters in height approximately 5-10 times per week, or as needed
• Understand and comply with the ANSI Fall Protection Standards
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to drive in extreme weather conditions, fog, snow, mud, off-road driving skills
• Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
• Body weight must be at or below 270 pounds

Responsibilities

• Ensure that on-site activities at each facility are conducted in a safety-conscious manner
• Manage all operations and maintenance activities for balance-of-plant (BOP) assets
• Oversee the facilities’ operations and maintenance-related contracts
• Manage any warranties as applicable
• Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting in accordance with performance requirements
• Monitor each facility’s performance against KPIs
• Engage internal and external resources as needed
• Work with equipment suppliers and service entities as required
• Monitor generating equipment for proper function, service, and repairs
• Ensure effective electronic communication at each facility
• Adopt and enforce best practices
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure high standards
• Ensure safety training is performed on schedule and additional training when needed
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations
