Job summary

Southern Power seeks a Wind Deputy Site Manager to oversee daily operations at a multi-turbine wind facility in Castro County, TX. You will lead technicians and contractors, implementing safe operating procedures and ensuring reliable generation performance.

Experience in wind energy, strong safety leadership, and the ability to work in challenging weather are essential. The role requires coordinating with Southern Power teams and external vendors to maintain, monitor, and optimize assets.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in wind energy
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applications
• Commitment to Safety Excellence and Human Performance principles
• Ability to climb turbine towers up to 110 meters, 5–10 times per week as needed
• Understand and comply with ANSI Fall Protection Standards
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to drive in extreme weather conditions, fog, snow, mud, off-road
• Ability to communicate safety precautions effectively
• Weight requirement: must weigh and maintain body weight at or below 270 pounds

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-site activities are conducted in a safety-conscious manner
• Manage operations and maintenance for balance-of-plant assets
• Oversee O&M-related contracts at the facilities
• Manage warranties as applicable
• Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting per performance requirements
• Monitor facility performance against KPIs and expected results
• Engage internal and external resources as needed for performance issues
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers and service entities
• Monitor generating equipment for proper function, service and repairs
• Maintain quality electronic communication at each facility
• Adopt and adhere to best practices in the field
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure high standards in work practices
• Ensure safety training is performed on schedule and arrange additional training as needed
• Ensure compliance with site environmental regulations (hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, etc.)
• Additional duties as required
