Job summary

The State of Colorado, Department of Public Safety, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, is seeking an entry-level Fire Marshal Inspector to perform construction inspections and ensure code compliance in regulated buildings. You will conduct on-site and document-based inspections and communicate deficiencies.

Successful candidates will attend trainings, obtain ICC/NFPA certifications within 12 months, and progress toward Fire Marshal III.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current ICC or NFPA Fire Inspector I, or ICC Commercial Building Inspector, or ICC Residential Building Inspector certification.
• Minimum of one year of experience related to plan review, building inspection, fire suppression, or construction trades.
• Knowledge of architectural/construction terminology and documents including plans and permit submittals.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent inspections of regulated buildings to verify compliance with codes and regulations.
• Write clear deficiency statements and communicate findings to facility personnel and designers.
• Attend required trainings and exams to obtain certifications and support career progression.
