Job summary

Washington State Department of Health is seeking a WIC Training and Program Development Manager to lead statewide training and policy implementation for the WIC program within the Office of Nutrition Services. This home-based, remote role offers hybrid work with occasional on-site days in Tumwater and potential statewide field work.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) or more years of experience leading or managing a health services or public health program
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition science or other public health related programs AND Two (2) or more years of experience leading or managing a health services or public health program
  • Two (2) or more years working in WIC program at the local, state or federal level.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience leading, managing or supervising professional staff, preferably in a health-related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience developing service delivery training using educational methodologies, instructional design, or adult learning strategies

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage staff within the ONS Communication and Training Team.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to staff responsible for WIC communication, training, and program materials.
  • Establish priorities and coordinate team activities to support statewide WIC program needs.
  • Coordinate training for local WIC staff to support consistent, participant-centered service delivery.
  • Ensure training is accessible, relevant, and aligned with state and federal WIC requirements.
  • Coordinate training related to WIC policies, procedures, and program implementation.
  • Identify training needs and support the development and delivery of resources that strengthen staff knowledge and practice.
  • Coordinate the development, communication, and implementation of WIC policies and procedures.
  • Work with program teams and local WIC agencies to support understanding and consistent implementation of policy changes.
  • Translate complex program requirements into clear, practical guidance and training for WIC staff.
  • Coordinate the development of participant nutrition education materials and training resources.
  • Support nutrition education approaches that are culturally responsive, participant-centered, and consistent with WIC program requirements.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure materials effectively support healthy choices and access to nutrition services.
  • Participate in the ONS Extended Office Leadership Team (EOLT), Clinic Operations Team, and other ONS meetings and workgroups as assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, local WIC agencies, and statewide partners to address training, policy, communication, and program implementation needs.
  • Contribute to statewide efforts that strengthen the quality, consistency, and accessibility of WIC services.
