Broadlawns Medical Center in Clive, IA, is hiring a WIC Support Staff/Outreach Specialist for the Dallas County clinic. Under supervision of the Program Director with guidance from the WIC Team leader, you perform varied office duties and help with participant intake and benefits issuance.

Responsibilities include greeting the public, answering phones, assisting with forms and voter registration, maintaining records, data entry, and outreach activities to promote nutrition programs and

• Computer skills including word processing and/or data entry
• Common office equipment
• One-year experience in dealing with the public.
• Reliable transportation

• Completes participant intake functions such as verifying residence, identification, and income; completing demographic information; ensuring voter registration; assisting participants in filling out forms.
• Issues benefits to participants, explains proper use of eWIC card to participants, maintains appropriate records.
• Maintains computer system: data entry and retrieval; prints benefits and forms; schedules appointments.
• Participates in outreach activities, quality assurance/improvement, and other duties as assigned.

General Description

Under the general supervision ofthe Program Director with guidance from the WIC Team leader, performs varied office duties.

Characteristic Duties

1. Greetspublic,answers phones and provides excellent customer service
2. Completes participant intake functions such as

• Verifying participant residence, identification, and income Completing demographic information Ensuring voter registration activities are completed Assisting participants in filling out forms

1. Issues benefits to participants, explains proper use of eWICcard to participants, maintains appropriate records.
2. Maintains computer system: maintains data entry and retrieval; prints benefits and forms; schedules appointments
3. Assumes responsibility for one or more of the following projects or skills:
4. filing of various forms and maintains for required time: Rights and Responsibilities, termination notices, proxy cards, Voter Motor receipts routine correspondence with clients including appointment reminders and missed appointment notification word processing using Windows and Word software translating/interpretingaforeignlanguage including bothverbal andwrittenforms referraltocommunity resources for food,shelter andrelatedneeds correctionofparticipantcomputer recordsutilizingprintedorverbal reportsfromthe State WICoffice Farmers Market program Participates in training and actively promotes and supports breastfeeding efforts
5. Participates in outreach activities
6. Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities
7. Perform other duties as assigned

Performance Standards

1. Promptly acknowledges persons coming to the Reception Desk.
2. Promptly answers incoming phone calls within designated number of rings
3. Accurately determines reason for participant’s visit androutes accordingly.
4. Accuratelyenters andretrieves data in computer.
5. Verifies that all steps for issuing benefits have been completed and that benefits are issued to the proper person.
6. AssuressecurityofWIC cardschecksatalltimes.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Highschool diploma orequivalent.
