Broadlawns Medical Center seeks a WIC Professional to certify eligibility and provide nutrition education. Under supervision of the Program Director, you will measure anthropometrics, hemoglobin, and complete intake procedures in Focus (WIC software).

You will deliver education, make referrals, and travel to outreach clinics in Winterset and Clive. Requires a relevant degree or RN license; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition or closely related field; RN license acceptable.
• RN license must be current; Dietitian preferred when applicable.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to outreach sites.

Responsibilities

• Certify eligibility and determine nutritional risk for WIC participants.
• Measure length/height, weight, and perform hemoglobin testing.
• Complete intake procedures and document in Focus (WIC software).
• Provide nutrition education and health guidance per guidelines.
• Make referrals as indicated and uphold Service Excellence standards.
• Travel to outreach clinics in Winterset and Clive as needed.

We provide our employees a top-rated benefits package, supportive work culture, and more!**WIC Professional**Under general supervision of the Program Director, certifies eligibility of Program participants by determining nutritional risk for women who are pregnant *I*up to 6 months postpartum *I*breastfeeding up to 1year, as well as children from birth to age 5 years; provides and assures nutrition education to Program participants.Functions as the competent professional authority for determination of program eligibility and certification: following assessment of individual anthropometric, biochemical, and dietary data, either certifies or denies participation in the Program on the basis of nutritional risk. Conducts any or all of the following procedures necessary for determining nutritional risk: measurement of length/height and weight, hemoglobin, completes required certification procedures in Focus (WIC software). Completes intake procedures for program applicants: interview applicants to obtain demographic information and determine income eligibility. Provides nutrition and health education in the areas of maternal and child health to WIC participants in accordance with Program guidelines. Use accurate techniques for length/height, weight, hemoglobin2. Use universal precautions for exposure to blood or bodily fluids3. Complete health and diet questions in Focus as appropriate for each participant being certified4. Provide health and nutrition education appropriate to individual participant within guidelines5. Make and document formal and informal referrals when indicated or requested by client6.
