Whirlpool Corporation in Michigan offers the Engineering Rotational Leadership Development (WERLD) internship program beginning May 2027. Participants work on projects across product development, testing, and manufacturing, gaining leadership skills and an engineering foundation.

Interns may be considered for full-time opportunities after successful completion, with housing support for those 50 miles+ from Benton Harbor and access to development sessions and cross-functional case competitions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with plans to graduate by May 2029.
• Majoring in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering/Science, Mechatronics, Materials Science or related field.
• US work authorization; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test new product and system designs to meet needs.
• Design and run test programs for components and materials.
• Apply design tools with a consumer-focused approach.
• Analyze test data to identify and solve issues.
• Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Learn LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Contribute to specifications, test reports, and reviews.

WERLD is focused on developing a strong engineering foundation and leadership skills in order to prepare participants for the variety of career paths. Over a 12 week period, interns in this program work on critical projects focused on products and engineering processes in the different stages of product development - from research and development all the way to manufacturing.
