Job summary

Hornblower Corp is seeking an experienced Captain to oversee the safe operation and leadership of on-board crew on our vessel operating from Massachusetts. The Captain will manage day-to-day activities, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain the highest standards of safety and customer service.

The role requires a 100-TON Master Inland license or higher, along with USCG/MCOI compliance, and the ability to train crew, conduct drills, and maintain thorough records.

Qualifications

• 100-TON Master Inland license or higher
• TWIC, First Aid/CPR
• Marine Radio Operator Permit
• Detail oriented with strong situational awareness
• Radar and navigation proficiency
• Emphasis on safety, teamwork and customer service
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Maintains professional appearance and grooming
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Captain is onboard manager and representative for the company.
• Oversees safe and efficient vessel operation and navigation in all weather.
• Ensures proper manning per COI and accurate passenger counts.
• Trains crew and ensures compliance with USCG and company policies.
• Reports accidents/incidents promptly and maintains logs and forms.
• Maintains vessel appearance and cleanliness.
• Performs specified preventive maintenance across systems.
• Conducts regular engine room inspections and logs activities.
• Familiar with Security Plan; conducts security drills and logs,
• Conducts safety drills per USCG and policy.
• Leads daily crew briefings and logs them.
• Enforces adherence to company policies and regulations.
• Ensures compliance with Coast Guard and other rules.
• Follows Emergency Response Plan; handles additional duties.
