Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering consultancy focusing on wet utilities/infrastructure.
• Proven experience with UAE/GCC projects; direct Abu Dhabi authority experience is highly preferred.
• Membership or progress toward membership in a professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, ASCE) is an advantage.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling and CAD/BIM tools as listed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD software.

Wet Utility Design Engineer

Parsons, Abu Dhabi

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Wet Utility Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will work within a multidisciplinary consultancy team to deliver the planning and detailed design of wet utility networks for infrastructure and land development projects in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE. The role focuses on design and authority approvals rather than site execution, covering potable water, fire-fighting, irrigation, foul sewer, and stormwater systems in line with Abu Dhabi authority standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design wet utility systems, including potable water networks, irrigation, fire-fighting networks, sewerage and stormwater systems, manholes, chambers, appurtenances, pumping stations, wet wells, and storage/tank facilities.

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD software.

• Develop hydraulic models to analyze and optimize system performance.

• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to determine project requirements.

• Perform calculations for pipe sizing, flow rates, pressure losses, and system capacities.

• Evaluate environmental and topographical data to ensure proper system integration.

• Prepare technical reports, design specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ).

• Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, codes, and standards.

• Work closely with architects, urban planners, and other engineering disciplines to integrate wet utility systems into broader infrastructure projects.

• Identify and resolve design challenges or site-specific issues during the design and construction phases.

• Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs (Requests for Information).

• Follow company QA/QC procedures, design checklists, and document control protocols.

• Assist senior engineers in defining design scope, project submission.

• Contribute to risk assessments and design decisions with a focus on safety, operability, and maintainability.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.

• Minimum 4years of experience in an engineering consultancy environment, with a focus on wet utilities/infrastructure design.

• Proven experience with UAE/GCC projects; direct Abu Dhabi authority experience is highly preferred.

• Membership or progress toward membership in a professional institution (e.g.,ICE, CIWEM, ASCEICE, CIWEM, ASCE) is an advantage.

• Proficiency in:

• Hydraulic modeling: WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks, EPANET, WaterGEMS.

• CAD/BIM:AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infrawizard.

• Office tools:MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint for calculations and reporting

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

• Master’s degree in Water Resources, Hydraulics, or Environmental Engineering is an advantage.

• Abu Dhabi Utility Infrastructure Design Manuals and authority submission procedures.

• International standards such asAWWA, BS/EN, ISOAWWA, BS/EN, ISOfor water and wastewater systems.

• Design of both gravity and pressurized systems.

• Prior experience in UAE or GCC market/projects.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills.
