Job summary

The Arc Carroll County is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our Community Living homes in Taneytown, MD. The DSP will support residents with daily living skills, meals, light housekeeping, and transportation as needed.

Position offers a scheduled 40-hour week potential with weekend shifts and a $2.00 weekend differential on top of the base $20.07/hr.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points.
• Intermediate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Clean drug screen and criminal record.
• Completion of CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the DD Administration and The Arc.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with life skills and household tasks in a small residential home.
• Assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.
• Work as part of a team in the Community Living Department to create inclusive environments.

We are thrilled to announce a rewarding position as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Community Living Department. Our Community Living Department focuses on creating inclusive and supportive residential environments where individuals can thrive and achieve their highest potential.

DSP RATE : $20.07/hr with a $2.00 differential for weekends

Available Schedule:

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30-3:00
• Thursday 8:30-4:00

*Opportunity to move to 40 hours per week by adding a weekend shift in Taneytown, MD.

What does a DSP in Community Living do? You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life by working as part of a team in a small residential home setting. You will support residents with life skills and household tasks such as meal planning and preparation, laundry, and light housework; as well as assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Completion of CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS (DSPs):

• Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
• Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Royer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
