Job summary

The Arc Carroll County is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join our Community Living team in Taneytown, MD. DSPs support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living, life skills, and community participation.

The role includes helping with meals, personal care, medication administration, and transport as needed. Weekend shifts with a $2 differential apply, with a base rate of $20.07/hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Intermediate computer/keyboard skills expected.
• Clean drug screen and criminal background review required.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with daily living and life skills in a small residential setting.

$20.07/hr with a $2.00 differential for weekends

What does a DSP in Community Living do?

You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life by working as part of a team in a small residential home setting. You will support residents with life skills and household tasks such as meal planning and preparation, laundry, and light housework; as well as assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record.
• Intermediate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
• Completion of CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.

Physical Requirements for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)

• Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
• Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Royer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
