Job summary

The Arc Carroll County is seeking compassionate and dependable PRN Direct Support Professionals to support adults with IDD in our Community Living homes in Westminster/Taneytown, MD. You will help with daily living skills, meals, transportation, and documentation.

Starting pay is $20.07/hour with a $2.00 weekend differential; flexible on-call scheduling, paid training, 403(b) plan, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Criminal background check and drug screen.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• CPR, First Aid and Med Tech Certification trainings.
• Minimum of 1 year experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living skills and personal care.
• Support meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping.
• Administer medications (paid training provided).
• Provide transportation to appointments and activities.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely.
• Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion.
• Ensure residents’ health, safety, and well-being.

What You’ll Do

As a Residential DSP, you’ll work as part of a supportive team helping individuals with daily routines, personal goals, and community involvement.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with daily living skills and personal care

Flexible PRN Scheduling

Our residential program operates 24/7, and PRN staff help cover:

• Call-outs
• Vacations
• Open shifts
• Emergency staffing needs

PRN Requirement:
To maintain active PRN status, employees must work a minimum of 4 shifts during each 6-week scheduling period.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid U.S. driver’s license that has never been suspended or revoked
• Clean driving record, criminal background, and drug screen required
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Ability to complete required trainings including CPR, First Aid, and Med Tech Certification
• Minimum of 1 year experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred

This position requires the ability to:

• Assist with a variety of personal care needs
• Lift and assist individuals with mobility needs
• Frequently stand, bend, push, pull, and reposition individuals
• Safely assist with transfers and wheelchair securement
• Use lifts and mobility equipment including Hoyer lifts
