Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis in Westfield, IN is seeking a Part Time Program Instructor to provide quality leadership in group exercise classes under the Program Director, creating a safe, non-competitive environment for members.

Responsibilities include demonstrating aerobic choreography, giving clear directions, and ensuring classroom safety while adhering to YMCA standards. Requires high school diploma and experience; CPR/First Aid certifications preferred or obtainable within 60–90 days.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and experience leading group exercise is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic exercise science, biomechanics principles and fitness class leadership is required.
• Ability to successfully demonstrate aerobic choreography.
• Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention certifications or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment.

Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Program Instructor will be primarily responsible for providing quality leadership and supervision, in group exercise classes, while maintaining a safe, non-competitive environment for YMCA members.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and experience leading group exercise is preferred.


• A minimum of 18 years of age.


• Knowledge of basic exercise science, biomechanics principles and fitness class leadership is required.


• Ability to successfully demonstrate aerobic choreography.


• Verbally provide clear concise directions and visually inspect classroom for safety


• Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and New Employee Orientation or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment.
