Job summary

Partners for Justice (PFJ) is seeking a Program Manager to oversee West Region partnerships, recruit and train Client Advocates, and strengthen collaborations with public defender offices. The role includes coaching Advocates, building local networks, and supporting the HEAL program for felony clients access to mental health diversion.

The position emphasizes remote work with flexible hours, ongoing training, and alignment with PFJ’s mission to advance holistic defense for low-income clients

Qualifications

• JD or MSW and minimum of two years’ experience providing services to low-income people.
• Must be a California resident or willing to relocate; Los Angeles County strongly preferred.
• Experience mentoring or supervising teams of 5+ staff, volunteers, or students.

Responsibilities

• Program management: shared responsibility for PFJ programs in the West Region and direct responsibility for one or more PFJ programs at partner offices.
• Technical assistance to West Region offices: primary contact with designated public defender partners and offices.
• Coach, empower and supervise PFJ Advocates: provide one-on-one support and ensure performance expectations are met.
• Partnership development: build relationships with legal aid providers, community organizations, and government agencies.
• Community awareness: stay informed on local dynamics affecting clients and communities PFJ serves.
• National resources: help define Advocate roles and contribute to training events.
