Job summary

Wacker Biotech seeks an experienced Business Development Manager to expand the biotech/biopharma client base in North America, focusing on plasmid DNA, mRNA, and related services. You will collaborate with the North America BD team to drive revenue and refine marketing strategies.

The role, based on the West Coast, requires senior sales experience, industry networking, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities while delivering results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology/Bi biotechnology/Biochemistry; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in biologics/microbial protein production; 5+ years commercial experience in Pharma/Biotech.
• Technical presentation experience to customers in a highly technical environment.
• Proven record of successful project management and/or business development.
• Strong gravitas and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal/communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and be a team player.
• Strong negotiation on price, costs, deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand new client network and represent Wacker at customer visits and calls, presentations, road shows, and trade shows to develop business and strengthen relationships.
• Plan and perform the sale, developing proposals with milestones and pricing; negotiate contracts in coordination with Wacker Biotech and legal/IP.
• Manage all business aspects of the customer relationship.
• Deliver exemplary customer services.
• Collaborate with BU/BD leadership, Technical experts, PM and SME teams to meet regional sales targets.
• Stay current on competitors and competitive strategies; input for future services.
• Maintain records of customer visits and negotiations; provide timely reporting.
• Develop and update knowledge; exchange information with production sites in San Diego, Jena, Halle, Amsterdam.
