Job summary

Build Health International (BHI) is seeking a Development Officer for the U.S. West Coast to implement fundraising strategies and expand its donor community. The role focuses on mid-level and major gifts, donor cultivation, and engagement through campaigns, events, and personalized stewardship.

You will collaborate with leadership and global teams to identify funding opportunities and demonstrate impact, while traveling ~25% of the time and contributing to grant and partnership efforts as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 3–5 years of fundraising experience.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills; strong attention to detail.
• Proven capabilities soliciting gifts and executing donor stewardship and cultivation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop mid-level and major gifts strategy for the West Coast and grow BHI’s donor community.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Design and manage donor engagement events and gatherings to support fundraising.
• Draft proposals, reports, and briefings for donors and internal teams.
• Serve as primary contact for selected donors, delivering timely updates and appreciation.
• Partner with global teams to identify funding opportunities and demonstrate impact.
• Support grants, partnerships, and related administrative tasks as needed.
