Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Wellness Director to lead center wellness staff and drive member engagement through personal training, group fitness, and wellness programs. You will manage day-to-day operations, budgeting, and service delivery to ensure exceptional member experience.

This exempt leadership role requires a BA/BS in exercise science or related field, supervisory experience, and current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Administration.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in exercise science or related field; or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of two years of wellness programming experience with supervisory experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain current certification from a national accredited organization in personal training, group exercise or similar discipline.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration certifications within 30 days of employment.
• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record in exercise, nutrition and healthy living.

Responsibilities

• Lead wellness staff in member connection and retention initiatives related to the wellness center and programs.
• Manage day-to-day operations of health and wellness programs and floor operations.
• Provide direct leadership for personal training, group training, group exercise and youth conditioning.
• Hire, develop, motivate and retain a high-performing wellness team.
• Oversee wellness-related budgets, safety, risk management and program quality.
