Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford seeks a Wellness Director to lead center wellness staff and manage day-to-day health programs, focusing on member connection and engagement for small to mid-sized centers.

You will supervise personal training, group fitness, and healthy living programs, while developing budgets and staff, ensuring safety and strong community relations to deliver exceptional member experiences.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in exercise science or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years of wellness programming experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain current certifications in personal training or group exercise.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid/AED and Oxygen Administration certifications within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to build relationships and lead a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead wellness staff in programs and member connection initiatives.
• Manage day-to-day wellness program operations and wellness floor operations.
• Provide leadership for personal training, group training, and healthy living programs.
• Develop budgets, curricula, staffing plans, and program growth strategies.
• Ensure safety, equipment upkeep, and risk management across the wellness center.
• Collaborate with center leadership to align programs with YMCA goals and member needs.
