Job summary

The Greater Waterbury YMCA seeks a full-time Health & Wellness Director to lead the development and operations of Health & Wellness programs, including Personal Training, Wellness Center operations, Group Fitness, and the Livestrong program.

You will supervise staff, ensure certifications are current, and collaborate with community partners to deliver inclusive programs that meet community needs and align with ADA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Current Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid.
• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
• One to two years related experience preferred.
• National certification in group fitness instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA group exercise instructor certification required.
• Certification in area of expertise required.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all Health and Wellness programs meet community needs and supervises activities.
• Maintains current CPR/First Aid certifications as well as Group Exercise and Personal Training Certificates.
• Recruit, hire, train and supervise diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboard for success.
• Develops collaborative relationships with community organizations and communicates within the department.
• Assists in marketing and distribution of program information.
• Responsible for Health & Wellness program reporting and billing.
• Conducts Fitness Foundations appointments.
• Manages the department budgets and schedules facilities and classes.
