Job summary

The State of Idaho is seeking a Welfare Training Specialist to design, develop, and deliver training for the Self-Reliance Child Support program. This role focuses on creating and updating training materials across multiple platforms and media, ensuring alignment with industry standards and program needs.

You will collaborate with multiple teams, assess training needs, and facilitate sessions, while demonstrating self-direction and reliability throughout probation and beyond.

Qualifications

  • At least one year work experience as a Self-Reliance Specialist (or equivalent level position), demonstrating good knowledge of current welfare, benefits and/or child support programs and their associated automated data processing systems; skill in making case determinations; and providing technical assistance to staff.
  • Experience developing and evaluating training to address identified needs.
  • Experience training adult groups or individuals in structured learning situations.
  • Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

Are you a strong independent thinker who is also able to work as part of a team? The Child Support Training Specialist position may be for you! The Division of Welfare has an exciting opportunity for an individual who is eager to use their training skills and knowledge to support new and existing staff at the Self-Reliance Child Support program. We are seeking applicants who will be highly motivated, knowledgeable, tech-savvy, and will enjoy creating and delivering training to staff.

This position may be located in Pocatello or Boise, Idaho.

This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum and specialty qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.

At least one year work experience as a Self-Reliance Specialist (or equivalent level position), demonstrating: good knowledge of current welfare, benefits and/or child support programs and their associated automated data processing systems; skill in making case determinations; and providing technical assistance to staff. Typically gained by at least one year of related Child Support experience that included making accurate child support case determinations and providing policy and automated system assistance to staff.

Experience developing and evaluating training to address identified needs. Typically gained by experience developing more than a singular type of training for at least three different programs with differing subject matter and learning objectives.

Experience training adult groups or individuals in structured learning situations. Typically gained by presenting approximately100 hours or more of training to adult (18 years of age and older) groups in structured learning situations OR completion of core requirements for a degree in instructional technology or its equivalent AND a minimum of 40 hours of instruction presenting training to adults. (Mentoring or one-on-one training provided to co-workers does not qualify).

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Experience researching, interpreting, and applying rules, policies, and procedures related to child support casework. Typically gained by working for at least one year as a Self-Reliance Specialist, Self-Reliance Principal, Self-Reliance Supervisor, or other comparable classifications for the Child Support program.
  • Experience designing, testing, and launching eLearning modules in learning management systems and/or SharePoint Online from Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and/or iSpring QuizMaker. Typically gained by completion of relevant coursework or at least one year of related work experience.
  • Experience using various graphic designs, photo, and video editing software to create, edit, and present original training content. Typically gained by completion of relevant course work or at least one year of related work experience.
