Job summary

Crawford Mechanical Services, a Quantum Industrial company, seeks a Quality Control Specialist to ensure welding and fabrication meet AWS/ASME codes and project specs. You will inspect welds, materials, and WPS/PQR documentation, and collaborate with fabrication teams and inspectors.

Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years welding inspection experience, AWS CWI, strong documentation skills, and travel up to 25%. This role blends shop, site, and field work in a safety‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification is required.
• 3–5+ years welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, or piping environments.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and B31.1/B31.3.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation.
• Familiarity with NDT methods is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality documentation processes.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies.
• Verify base materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements.
• Monitor welding operations to ensure adherence to AWS, ASME, and project specifications.
• Coordinate and support NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT).
• Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and project turnover documentation.
• Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records.
• Collaborate with fabrication teams, project managers, and customer inspectors to resolve quality concerns.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong safety culture.
