Job summary

Valmont Group in Brenham, TX is seeking a Production Lead: Welding/Quality on 1st shift to drive safety, quality, and productivity on the shop floor.

You will lead a welding team at the Houston facility, mentor operators, manage daily priorities, and support continuous improvement through RCA, training, and strong communication across shifts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years welding experience.
• 3+ years leadership experience in manufacturing.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and production equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety-first culture on the shop floor.
• Provide daily direction to production employees.
• Meet safety, quality, production, and delivery goals.
• Lead shift start-up meetings and communicate priorities.
• Monitor production performance and address issues.
• Ensure quality checks and production documentation are completed.
• Train and coach employees for consistent work methods.
• Provide timely feedback and recognize performance.
• Identify cross-training opportunities and strengthen team capabilities.
• Lead root-cause analysis to understand losses and prevent recurrence.
• Maintain equipment knowledge and coordinate maintenance.
• Keep the department organized for the next shift.
• Communicate across shifts and leadership.
