Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America is seeking a Parts Inspector for our East Chicago, IN facility. This in-person role will involve inspecting parts, measuring with calipers and gauges, and ensuring finished products meet customer specifications.

The role requires 0–2 years in quality/inspection, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication. Typical schedule is Mon-Fri, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a competitive wage and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in repairs, quality control, inspection, or a similar field.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and measure work using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
• Read labels, tags, identification plates, and stenciled markings to ensure items correspond with requirements.
• Examine products for surface defects, weld size, weld dimensions, and other quality concerns.
• Compare units with shipping orders to verify the correct accessories are present.
• Perform root cause analysis as required and develop appropriate countermeasures.
• Develop and implement quality standards.
• Facilitate product improvements through reports, quality alerts, audits, and other quality initiatives.
• Assist the Warranty Department with product and Sales Order information as required.
• Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, identifying products requiring rework, and confirming completed rework.
• Document inspection results by completing required reports and logs.
• Operate hand and power tools, along with a variety of equipment and measuring instruments.
• Prepare products for final delivery to customers, including cleaning and verifying Bills of Material.
• May operate material-moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, and bridge cranes.
• Inspect outsourced parts for quality and conformance.
