Job summary

SQA Services in St. Louis is seeking a detail‑oriented Welding Inspector to ensure the quality and integrity of welded components and assemblies.

This on-site role is 5 days a week, 1:30pm-10pm, for a 1-year contract, with duties including inspections and documentation. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of structural welding inspection experience, knowledge of AWS D1.1, and preferred CWI certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical welding inspection training preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of structural welding inspection experience.
• Experience inspecting structural steel fabrication and welded assemblies.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 requirements.
• CWI certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform VT visual inspection of structural welds per AWS D1.1 criteria.
• Evaluate weld workmanship and surface condition.
• Verify weld profiles, weld size, and contour requirements.
• Inspect fillet welds, groove welds, CJP and PJP welds.
• Welding documentation review: WPS, welder qualifications, materials, procedures.
• In‑process and final inspection: fit-up, alignment, cleanliness, repairs as needed.
• Reporting and documentation: inspection reports and nonconformance.
• Supplier/source inspection support: audits and communications with suppliers.
