Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel and welds on fabrication shops and on site, with authority to accept or reject per code requirements (AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104).

You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, direct NDT, and write repair instructions. Travel and per diem are involved; projects vary by location, with Sugar Land HQ coordinating Texas postings.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC certification preferred (sponsored if not held).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write repair instructions.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; sign inspection reports.
