Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated welds on projects requiring AWS D1.1/D1.5/D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104. You will witness tests, review WPS/PQR, and direct NDT, signing reports relied upon by engineers and officials.

Responsibilities include inspecting shops and field erection, bolting and grouting where certified, and producing nonconformance and repair instructions. Occasional travel with per diem is expected.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it to close retests.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority per code.
• Review WPS/PQR and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests; direct NDT.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and building officials.
