Job summary

Construction Material Testing is hiring a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies, inspecting to AWS, D1, or API specs as required. Your week alternates between fabrication shops and erection sites, witnessing welder qualification tests and directing NDT activities.

You will review WPS/PQR, sign inspection reports for engineers and building officials, and travel as needed. We are an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
