Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee accept/reject decisions on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies per AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required. You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, direct NDT, write inspection and nonconformance reports, and coordinate with the engineer of record and the building official.

Texas-based roles from Sugar Land HQ with travel to project sites; pay ranges from $38 to $52

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required.
• 2+ years inspecting under CWI.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct NDT.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and officials.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection with reporting for IBC Chapter 17.
